Is shrub willow a host plant?

I saw a Dappled Japanese Willow ('Hakuro Nishiki') bush at a local nursery. Would this work as a host plant for red-spotted purples and mourning cloaks? I looked around the web, and caterpillars are listed as one of the "pests", but it doesn't say what kind of caterpillar

It's a pretty bush, and I don't have room for a regular willow tree.

Note: It was a bush, not grafted to make it into a tree.

Thanks!
