Geminating Cassia alata seeds

Hi everyone,

I was wondering if any of you have any advice you can offer me about germinating Cassia alata seeds? I want to plant them in a large flower pot, but I am not sure what sort of soil to use, how deep to plant the seeds, or anything like that.

Cassia alata is an easy plant to grow, but may not be hardy to your zone, except maybe as a reseeding annual.
Simply soak the seeds in water overnight and plant about an inch or so deep. They like heat to germinate, so make sure it's warm where you keep them. You'll want to wait until after the last frost to place them outside. They like hot, humid conditions. It is very fast growing.
Cassia alata likes a rich, well draining soil and full sun, moderate water and moderate fertilizing. I use Miracle Gro Potting soil. Make sure the pot has adequate drainage holes.
