That could be - monarch eggs are really small, and, being on the underside of the leaf, you could easily miss them. I know I have.

Thanks Sherry. I was just thinking about the time table for egg hatching. It's been 19 days since I planted the plants. I do know though that I have seen Black SWT eggs sit on my fennel for much longer than usual before finally hatching. I think that weather must impact hatch time.

I observed that one year in late May that Monarch eggs took 3 weeks to hatch outside. I didn't have enough to feed them so I took some in and left some outside. We had a cool spring that year. I've been following the journey north map (see link below) and also checking out the sightings I just checked the adult sightings for north GA. 4/21 Canton and 4/14 Pendergrass.

Yes, it definitely does. The cooler the weather, the longer it takes eggs to hatch. Like, pipevine swallowtail eggs only take about 5 days to hatch in the summer, but my first batch that were laid in March took about 2 weeks (or more) to hatch. Your monarch eggs undoubtedly hatched late due to this very cool spring. It's getting warmer, though. It's been in the low 80's for about a ?week.

Wouldn't that be really cool if the native plant people sold you plants with eggs? Congrats, BTW!

Thanks y'all. Well Linda, I am pretty certain that the native plant people did exactly that. It never even occurred to me to check those leaves for eggs. Heck, there were probably only 10 tiny leaves between both plants. There is Butterfly Weed and Common MW up in my yard right now, and there is NO sign of any Monarch cats or eggs on any of it. So, these guys had to have come with the Swamp MW I bought. :)
