I believe your butterfly is a comma, because I can't find the dash on the end of the forewing that separates them from question marks - congrats, congrats! I never see commas here, just question marks.

I don't know what it's called, but the hidden butterfly is black with a cream border right in the center of the photo. Right?

Thanks for the id MissSherry. I just checked my Audubon New England Guide and it says the Comma's flight period is late March - Oct., and the Question Mark is late May - Oct., so that confirms your id.

And yes there is a Mourning Cloak amongst the leaves. I guess he (or she) was "puddling" amongst the leaf litter. I have never managed to get a photo of one of these butterflies before. I had to move slowly to get close enough to this one.
