Caterpillar on buttonbush id?

molanic

My buttonbush is barely leafing out and some of the buds and tiny leaves got zapped by frost, but today I found this little guy inside a tiny furled up leaf bud. It is less than an inch in length and I didn't get a look at his rear-end because I didn't want to disturb it too much. There is definitely not enough foliage to support this guy yet, unless the buttonbush has a sudden growth spurt. But I thought if I can id it, I may have another host plant for it. The only markings I can really make out are tiny little iridescent spots along the sides in each segment. I looked up what the buttonbush is a host for and didn't see any matches, although I know this is only an early instar cat. Any ideas?
