Tiger Swallowtail Caterpillar!

You may remember that I saw a yellow female tiger swallowtail laying an egg on a small wild black cherry tree a few weeks ago. Well, that egg was a dud, never hatched, just turned clear. I've been seeing a red-spotted purple flying around slowly like she was laying eggs, so I toured the cherry trees looking for eggs and found quite a few. Just behind one of the RSP eggs I saw this -

Have you noticed how often you find something good when you're looking for something else?

I'm guessing that this cat came from the yellow female that had been visiting and laid the dud I found. I also saw my first black female tiger swallowtail of the season, but she looked like she just emerged, so it's unlikely she's the Mama.

This is the first tiger I've found since year before last, so it's a good find for me.

I also saw my first giant swallowtail of the year. I checked my host plants for eggs, but didn't find any, but I think I'll go back now and check again.
