I feel so stupid. I always thought those little purple butterflies in early spring were cabbage moths. Today, when I saw one, then saw it land and put its wings up, I realized it was the spring azure! Oh well.........now I know! I've been seeing a fair number of them flying around. Now I'll be more interested in them! :)

Beautiful pic--so clear! Did it let you get close to it? Saw one fluttering around a week ago while I was driving.

I was about 6-8' away from it, but was using a telephoto lens.
I looked out my bathroom window this morning and there were 4-5 of them flying around the blossoms on the serviceberry tree!

I thought of you this afternoon while I was out in my garden, Catherine, because a spring azure kept landing on my shoe, didn't want to leave it! I'd walk, it'd fly off, then come back. Hmmmm.......maybe I need to clean my shoes! :)

Pictures always show them with their wings up, showing the less colorful side, but when they fly, you get to see all that pretty blue!
