Butterfly Garden

Amazing cecropias and more

Spring has sprung in the Carolinas with the emergence of Lunas and cecropias! It was not long before wild males came calling and now lots of eggs! Hoping for a good butterfly season has well. It was a little weak last year!
Always glad for the beautiful moths!

I did a little experiment last year with host plants. I had so many eggs that with the fear of running out of leaves for these hungry little fellows I divided them with different food supplies. By far the cats raised on plum did the best and grew much faster and stronger.

Thanks for the info. I had heard that they develop on Wild Cherry, along with Tiger Swallowtails and RSPs, so I went out and bought a BR sapling today.
