Look what I discovered this morning!

Last year was a bad one for me. I neglected my garden beds terribly and obviously even forgot what I had sitting around in pots. It was so hot and dry, even a few plants in ground died because of my neglect.

This morning as I was checking garden plants, I spotted this little pot with a prolific little daisy like plant growing in it, no doubt from seeds scattered by the winds. Thinking I'd add it to my compost, I picked it up and lo and behold, look what was growing among the daisies. At first, I thought it was a tiny oak seedling, as the squirrels stick the acorns in all sorts of places. Then looking more closely, I thought, dang, that looks like a red ring milkweed seedling. Looked at the plant tag and this is exactly what it is! Just goes to show how hardy these little plants can be. I'm beginning to believe their main problem is poor pollination of the flower ... resulting in few seed pods, rather than their hardiness once established.
