What a great idea! I'll have to do that, since I've had trouble getting their picture, at least the ones I want most to photograph, like the rose pink ones that show up occasionally. There are a lot of dragonflies here, I guess because most everybody has at least one pond - except me.

I'll have to go see if I kept those bamboo sticks when I cleaned out the garage.

I read about that trick years ago but it was not for photography. It was just to give the dragonflies a place to perch in your garden. Taking pictures is a nice side benefit. I put a bunch of bamboo stakes in my garden but nothing came of it so I did not repeat when I moved. I should try it again since I have so many dragonflies at this house.

I didn't throw away the bamboo stakes, so I put them out in my garden. Here's hoping the dragonflies will use them!

Dragonflies will patrol any sizable open, flat area. A pond is not essential, although it will draw even more dragonflies.

Great photo-dragonflies are so cool-but I think their diet can include butterflies
