Euphydryas phaeton caterpillars

I have been lucky enough to come across a few Baltimore Checkerspot caterpillars.

I am raising them until they hatch from their chrysalids, and will release them back to the location where they seem to have a colony.

Oh, wow! What beautiful caterpillars!
There aren't too many people who post on this forum who've been lucky enough to raise baltimores, so congrats, congrats!
Hopefully you'll be able to get a picture to show us of an adult before you release it.

Oh, wow. Gorgeous cats and a stunning chrysalis. I do not for the life of me see how every person would not see the beauty in these creatures. I mean, the patterns and colors are so beautiful. Some of my family just says YUCK when I send them pics of a super gorgeous cat. Crazy people!! :o)
