Our milkweed seems to withstand light frost OK, with no extra protection needed. However, it has not yet flowered, and none of the stems are higher than 6 inches.

Should be okay. We've had a few frosts post milkweed emergence and they did fine. Depending on your species, of course, most perennial milkweed are extremely hardy, like zones 3 and 4. Mine is Asclepias speciosa and A. purpurascens. Mine is about to bloom - once again bloom time depends on the species.

We had an unusually cold spring. Didn't think we would ever get past those weekly spells of frosty and often freezing temps.

My purpuracea is about 2" high now and my syriaca takes the lead at 5". Incarnata and tuberosa are just breaking ground.

Well they made it through the last few nights that had frost warnings. I have 2 kind so far. 12 A. incarnate and 1 tuberosa. I am trying to collect the blood flower but I really am having a hard time finding the seeds/ plants at a reasonable price.
One of the incarnate is 3 feet, when do they bloom? This is my 1st year doing the whole plant thing so I hope I am successful. lol

Everwilde Farms has Asclepias curassivica seeds 500 for $2.50 + 3.50 shipping which is about the best price I have found. Their seeds are excellent.
