Congrats leafhead! I hope you will have enough fennel. My BST laid eggs on my dill last year, so I have six plants growing, and parsely. My fennel was so spindly last year, I did not plant any this year, the nurseries don't carry much of it, so I did not want to get caught without enough. Keep us posted, Deb

You could mix a little commercial fertilizer into composted cow manure, spread it around your fennel, then water it in - 'guaranteed to make lots of leaves for caterpillars to eat! :)

I'm so thrilled for you! I keep checking my fennel, but haven't found anything yet. Last fall I planted three containers of parsley and a container of dill specifically to raise lots of Black Swallowtails. But, the parsley barely showed up this spring, and I only got one dill sprout. I guess I need to toss out some more seed.

Enjoy those eggs, and hope you get lots more.
