First Monarch cat in Madison

Yay!!! I successfully hatched one Monarch egg and have several ready to hatch:O) I am rearing them on Common Milkweed and Swamp Milkweed. The first one hatched yesterday and I'm visiting the job today to check on the others. I'm so excited!! I also collected several eggs in my own garden and they should start turning dark soon now in prep for hatching:-)

Congratulations!!! I'm so envious. But, it's early yet for Michigan. I hope yours stay happy and healthy for you, and that you find many more.

Happy news, John! Raise all the Monarchs you can and please keep us updated on your progress.

Still no sign of a spring mama Monarch in my garden but I keep hoping and looking. If no one shows up this spring, I'll be well prepared for the fall migration!

I have yet to see a Monarch here in the Philadelphia suburbs. My milkweed is really just getting going anyway.
