Vernonia fasciculata NOT a host plant for American Ladies

Hi all, Just thought I'd post that I tried feeding Vernonia fasciculata to an American Lady caterpillar, a middle instar, before all the pretty colors come in.

It died. I only did one; all the rest in that "brood" are fine.

On the internet in some places, it is listed as a host plant, and so we planted some in our school garden for that reason, as well as for late fall nectar.

Posting it here because often in searching the web, this forum comes up often and quite early in results.
