'Glad to hear from you again, Mary!

You're probably seeing tiger, spicebush, palamedes, giant, and maybe pipevine swallowtails - all are big and impressive. You'll also see red-spotted purples, which are nearly as big as the others.

Of course you'll see the usuals you saw in Slidell, like gulf frits, monarchs, etc., but the big swallowtails are especially abundant in the woods.

I just remembered something. I'm not real familiar with the creeks and rivers in the Picayune area, but pawpaws/Asimina parviflora grow on the bluffs of most creeks in south Mississippi. You might see some rare zebra swallowtails, so keep your eyes out for them, Mary! I saw one along a small creek that flows into Black Creek once, and they've visited my garden once or twice since we've lived here.

Thank you Miss Sherry,.............the property we have is in the backwaters of the Pearl River and Old River.....I live about 10 miles from Bogalusa ......... I need to look up these BFs and see what their host plants look like. It just fascinates me each time I take a ride to the 'back'.
