She Wasn't THAT Old!

I mentioned in another thread that I saw a worn out female spicebush swallowtail yesterday - she was tattered and had no tails. I was hoping she still had enough in her to leave me some eggs - she did, at least one, anyway -

I'll probably just monitor the egg and bring it in when it hatches. Sassafras doesn't hold up that long in water, even when you cut down on the branch, so by the time it hatches (5 days?) the leaf it's on wouldn't be worth eating. I'll be looking for more eggs, of course!

One of the two spicebush cats I'm raising was out of the nest eating this morning, and it's turned green. So they're continuing to make good progress!
