What is green cat up to?

Am guessing this is a cat of a white-lined sphinx moth - is that right? Yesterday was "face"-down (I think) in the St Augustine, tail-up in Texas primrose (Calylophus berlandieri), and not moving much. Was wondering if this is "normal" or sign of distress... just seem like a poorly protected spot to sit motionless for a good part of the day. Big and plump, so assume it was ready to leave the host plant for higher ground.

Sphinx moths go underground to make their pupa, so I imagine that's what this one is about to do.

Great picture!

I saw a hummingbird clearwing nectaring on butterfly bush in my garden yesterday, and I didn't have my camera - wish I had!

Sherry, Thanks - burrowing would explain all that time head-down in the dirt. Had no idea that's what it was doing. Gone today and hopefully cozy in the clay.
