Hi, This is the first year I have grown Asclepias cordifolia. Even though I am in SC and this is a West Coast native I decided to give it a try just for fun because I love the purple color in the leaves and the dark purple color of the flowers.

My question is what do they look like when they are seedlings? Mine are growing kind of like a thin vine rather than straight up. I have looked online and found only one other image of an A. cordifolia seedling and it looked like mine. Do these normally grow like this the first year then grow more upright the second?
