Hmmm.....all the ones I've seen are white. Eggs darken before they hatch, but the only ones I've ever seen with red on them are zebra swallowtail eggs.

I know you are very experienced in this but I do know for sure that it is a black swallowtail as I saw her lay it in front of me.

I had another look and it does seem to be darkening so maybe it will hatch afterall. Here's hoping.

I have had eggs that look streaked when examined up close or from photos. Hope it hatches successfully.
