This week has been pretty boring in my yard. I've seen quite a few Buckeyes and Variegated Frits but I'm just not seeing the big butterflies. I was seeing more in the spring than I am now. I'm sure it will pick up again.

I was watching a monarch the other day flitting around my front yard from my home office window and was thinking to myself, I wonder what would happen if a butterfly hit the window like a bird? And wouldn't you know it, the thing hit my office window, then flew away. I've seen other monarchs around but haven't seen any other large butterflies yet, but I haven't been outside in the yard much this year, I've been working a lot of hours and just haven't had the motivation to be in the gardens this year. I know they are out there, though, I found a few black swallowtail cats on my bronze fennel a couple of weeks ago.
