The only snakeroot that I had come back this year was in pots. None that I planted in the yard came back.I planted 2 in the yard this year and they did great but then one day they were gone. 2 died in pots and now I only have 3 plants left in pots. Should I put them in larger plants for the summer? Mt tomentosa came back fine. It was in the ground.

Va. snakeroot is hard to figure, but I think it likes good drainage, so it would probably be best to leave them in their pots or plant them in a well drained spot. Have you gotten any pipevine swallowtail eggs/cats? Sherry |

I have never had pipevine swallowtails or spicebush. I have planted 4 sassafras which all died. I do have 2 spicebushes.

tdr4: Let me know if I was the one that supplied you with the Virginia snakeroot so we can set you up with replacement plants this fall or next spring, and try again. Rod A.

Ah, the case of the missing snakeroots. I've had the same issue with some of mine. My theory is that bunnies chew them down to the ground, but I haven't been able to confirm this. Jeff
