My sightings have picked up, too, and when all these red-spotted purples I'm raising emerge, there will be LOTS of those!

Sherry and Tony, I am just so happy to be seeing them already. I have noticed that as I plant more for the butterflies, my yard butterfly numbers have steadily increased from year to year. So, I don't know if this is a natural result of that or if the butterflies are truly arriving earlier than usual.

I'm seeing a slight rise in Frittilaries this year, and an occasional BST. Average # of American Ladies and those Cabbage Whites are prolific. Things seem quiet. Few, few Monarchs. I'm glad to hear of a boom down South (wish I were there..). Bodes well for the rest of us.

Two of the red-spotted purples emerged today, one during the night that I released earlier today, and one in the middle of the day that I just released.

I once wondered how it was that no matter how early I got up, there would be a RSP already emerged in the cage. So one night I went out about 3:00 a.m. and found one! I don't know of any other butterfly that does that.

I wish I was seeing more butterflies than I am, but I AM seeing some, more swallowtails than before.

I released 10 Sleepy Orange butterflies from my tent this afternoon. So, I have little yellow butterflies flitting around all over the yard. Did a walkabout just now, and I only saw Skippers and lots of bees. Makes me happy to see so many bees. Congrats on the RSP's Sherry. Gosh, I hope to raise some one day. I hope that the one female Monarch left some eggs behind. I'll watch for the Fritillaries Leafhead. So far, I've only seen one Great Spangled. My Passionvine is bustin out big time. There will be lots of food for Frit cats.
