Yep, I've seen it happen too. And I've seen various shades of green and brown and everything in between depending. And even when several pupate on the same surface, some will be green while others somewhere in the gray/brown category. Interesting, huh?

I've had plenty of BSTs, most are dark, but a few have been green. I have a few in a mesh hamper right now, 4 are brown and 1 is green. I also had 2 recently pupate directly on a parsley stem; 1 is green and the other brown. I don't know if there is a logical explanation, but I'd sure love to know why.

So much for the camouflage theory, I guess, although it certainly seems to be true in my case. They do look like they're part of the sticks they're on.

That two-tone chrysalis was kind of cool, too bad it didn't last long!

The only chrysalis I've ever had that stayed two tone was a Queen. It was half pink and half green. I guess I should have taken a picture but I didn't. :-/
