caterpillar ID help needed

User

Not sure if this is the right place for this post, but....does anyone know what this is? It's about an inch long and there are three of them~so far~eating my Cimicifuga. (Google hasn't given me any help so far.) Thanks in advance.

I don't know exactly what your caterpillar is - there are SO many caterpillars out there!
But by the shape of the body, it almost has to be in the Notodontidae/prominent family of moths. It most closely resembles the double-toothed prominent and the northern finned prominent. They all make plain moths.
Thanks for posting the interesting picture!

I was going to say the same thing, MissSherry - double-toothed prominent. I find them on elm leaves a lot. Quite a fascinating caterpillar in appearance for such a plain moth.
