Butterfly Garden

Just another day in the garden...

Today was actually a pretty good day. I released two Black Swallowtails (have several more chrysalides and one caterpillar yet.) I spotted a female today laying more eggs on the fennel flowers.

I found two baby Monarch (1st instar cats) on my tropical milkweed. A male and a female monarch had been seen over the past week or so swooping around the garden. I watched the female lay eggs!

AND, I've got a female Gulf Fritillary that has layed countless eggs on my p. incarnata over the past several days.

Yes, it was a good day indeed.

That's great, Laura! I love to hear about people seeing plenty of butterflies and getting plenty of eggs and caterpillars!

I'm a bit jealous. I STILL haven't seen a Gulf Frit in my yard this summer and I was sure with the early spring, that I would see some. Still plenty of time I guess.
