| I found these on a milkweed leaf, curious to know if these are spider eggs? I am thinking they are, as I am seeing alot of spiders on my milkweed. I just don't want to discard them if they are butterflies eggs. I know they are not monarch eggs.

| Not spider eggs; they never deposit their eggs like that. Do I see one lone egg that isn't black in that cluster? I'm going to take a wild stab here and GUESS that these might be the eggs of the milkweed tussock moth, parasitized shortly after they were laid by the adult moth. All but one, that is. Mind you, that's a guess. The MTM's eggs are small, round, and pearly white, normally. They would become very dark if a black parasitoid was growing inside. |

| I'm curious as well! Coincidentally, just this morning I noticed that my entire african daisy plant is covered in something that looks just like your picture...like tiny poppy seeds. They were not there a couple days ago. I have not seen a lot of any bugs or spiders with the exception of being absolutely overrun with picture winged flies, but I can't find a pic of their eggs anywhere to compare. There's probably hundreds of these eggs on the plant, I hope I'm not breeding anything I don't want! |
