Nice butterfly looks very much like our gray hairstreak.

I just looked up gray hairstreak...they do look similar, but this one is much smaller. I love the dusty blue/gray color.

I agree with you, it is an eastern tailed blue. (Insert usual apologies here for my beginner status.) I believe you can make out the tiny little tails on the hind wing. The hind wing should also have a tiny orange dot. There's a light border all around the outside of the wings. I saw one yesterday here in Monmouth County. It was rather grayish, like yours. I got a really good look at one in the spring and it was more blue. They really are cute, I agree!

Thanks for pointing that out...I zoomed in and can just barely make out an orange spot just above the tail-you can see the tail on this one, on the left side against the green of my garden hose (really, it couldn't find a prettier place to land? lol.)

I'm still a beginner myself, no apologies needed!
