Gulf Frits

If it weren't for the Gulf Frits,I wouldn't have much activity during this hot dry summer. I have raised several, and I find them *everywhere* in my yard. Today I happened upon this couple, on my P. caerulea. There was another one that kept bothering them... and then I found yet another newly eclosed one hiding behind some leaves.

The heat has lessened here some over the past two days (from 112 or so down to 101 for highs) and today I also spotted a Monarch and a male Eastern Tiger Swallowtail. Couldn't sex the Monarch as it kept fluttering around and never would land long enough for me to get a good look.

Here's hoping this means things are going to improve.

Hehehe!

Tell some of your gulf frits to fly southeast, would you Laura? I'm raising three caterpillars now. This year has been SO weird, raising just a few at the time. Normally, the vines are covered with cats by this time, but not so this year.

Great pictures!
