Butterfly Garden

Cercropia caterpillars found!!!!!

Hi
I have never seen a caterpillar or an adult cercropia at my house. I was out looking for viceroy caterpillar perches. When I saw this thing on a very small plant I went to look and it was a cercropia caterpillar! My question is how can you tell if a caterpillar is parasitizied? It does not have the white cocoons on it so is their any other way I can tell if it is parasitizied?

Sometimes you can see tiny black specks where there is damaged tissue from the ovipositor.

Congrats on your Cecropia--they are so beautiful!
