Wow! That is really interesting that 12 out of 12 were males. I don't know if there are specific factors that affect sex. Someone here would know though. I wouldn't think it would matter where you release them. They are going to fly where they will anyway. Congrats!

Michelle, the males CAN be territorial but sometimes they are very tolerant of each other.

This year, everyone seems to be getting along in our garden. I still see chasing, but then I'll see them nectaring right next to each other a couple minutes later.

That's quite a string of males! I've released more males recently too, but just put out a female this morning.

Thank you for the replies. I could not believe it. I should have 4 or 5 emerging today. Hoping to get some females.
This has been quite a adventure for sure. One that I am loving.

I realize the butterflies that I raise do not join the migration but I feel good knowing that I am helping the population. Doing my little part.
