My 3d BST eclosed and was set free this afternoon. Two beautiful females and one gorgeous male. Unfortunately, all the little cats I tried to raise subsequently died. I think there were 3-4 in all. I brought them in as tiny cats, not eggs, so maybe they were already sick, I don't know. But it has diminished my confidence a bit.

Now there are freshly laid eggs on my parsley and fennel. They weren't there yesterday, so I know they're new. Maybe my own "grandchildren!" Should I try again? Should I do something different? I washed the mesh cage and I will disinfect with bleach, but for the little guys I thought I would just use a fresh plastic container of some sort. I would also like to try to find a couple of Monarch eggs, but I don't want to be responsible for killing any of those, they're too precious.

So, should I try again? Or is there something wrong with my site, my technique, or something?
