Butterfly Garden

Without doubt the most convenient way to get an ID, as compared to any other way I know, not having a butterfly ID book.
Must be a common little one, here in New Jersey.

Lucky you! I have half a dozen hackberries on my property and I've never seen one!

What a pretty butterfly!

I've never seen one here, either, but then hackberries don't grow here. I get visited by the southern pearly-eye from time to time - they look similar. Southern pearly-eye's host plant is canes, so I've planted three in chronically damp spots in the bottom of the hollow, and they've thriving!

Thank you. Once again, a forum poster comes through quickly for me. Hackberry is one of the commonest trees, here.
Rather a small butterfly, compared to the swallowtails that are around, now.
