I'm thinking this is a common checkered skipper? A real cutie! I wish he had stayed longer - I went to get my macro lens and by the time I returned, he was no where to be found.

Beautiful, beautiful, the checkered skipper and the zinnia!
The blue gray coloring on his body shows he's a male. Common checkered skippers are one of the skippers that I really like - they're darling!

What a cutie! I hope he flew over my way!

Great shot. I looked him up on the online guide to Indiana butterflies and he is not listed for our county. But your picture is so much better than the picture in the guide. Thanks.

I envy you! That's one that I haven't been lucky enough to attract yet.

Great shots!

So pretty! All decked out in his pretty fur stole. Faux, of course.

Oh Jeanne, I was just telling Beth today, at Cox, what a fabulous photographer you are! You have to come and give a slideshow there! That checkerspot photograph is amazing! I love the blue on them and you captured that perfectly!

Elisabeth

You just need to plant some Hollyhocks. It is their favorite. Hollyhocks are also used by Painted Ladies and Gray Hairstreaks.

Elisabeth, I will be happy and thrilled to donate any and all pictures to the arboreteum but don't count on any presentations from me - I am a computer geek to the bone and I can read and write in many computer languages but when it comes to speaking in public, I am illiterate!

You may have answered a question for me Jeanner. I've been trying to id this one: Is it a Checkered Skipper too?

I think so!

Your "lawn" looks like mine!

And, mine. Weeds. Butterflies love them, most neighbors don't.
