While I was at a garden nursery today, they had several caterpillars feeding on parsely. Then I was shown another plant that had several butterfly eggs on them. They said they have a hard time keeping parsley because the caterpillars keep the plants stripped. I didn't know that parsley was so popular with butterflies.

Parsley is the black swallowtail host plant. Did you buy the plant? There my favorite caterpillars to raise.

Parsley is a favorite of the Black Swallowtail Butterfly. They also like dill, fennel, carrot, and some others I'm not remembering.

No I didn't buy any parsley. At this time I don't any place for it. I am a little concerned that if I got some something would get to the caterpillars. I have had over a dozen monarch caterpillars but not one chrysalis. Don't know if something is eating them.

The chrysalis may be hidden and you just don't see them. I'm glad you're seeing caterpillars. That's good news for everyone.
