You are right; they are difficult to photograph,because they are so fast and so flighty. I have only seen one so far this year. Last year I saw many in my yard. Hopefully things will pick up for both of us.

I miss my pipevine swallowtails so much! I used to have eggs and cats all over the place, with adults nectaring at lantana and butterfly bush all the time, but I've only had two visitors this year, both males.

Maybe they'll return.
