This is a male swallowtail I released. Kind of on the smallish side (he was raised on rue since everything else crapped out in the heat of the summer.)

I've had lots of these little guys on this flower (some type of ageratum) - they seem to attract the hairstreaks and lots of bees, but not much else.

Pretty pics! Is that a Pipevine Swallowtail in the last pic? I have never seen one here.

Is that purple flower the Greg's mist flower (or some common name like that)?

Yes on the Pipevine Swallowtail... and I think not on the Greg's mist flower. The flowers look similar but the leaves are not the same. I can't remember where I picked this up in the spring... I think from Bustani Plant farm in Stillwater, OK.It was some kind of ageratum, and It is much larger (taller and spread out) than the ageratum variety you see at all the big retailers in the spring.

Nice photos Laura. You caught the blue in the Pipevine's wings very well. I have lots of blurry pics of those.
