Hi all,

I grow Winged Sumac, Rhus copallinum and Southern Wax Myrtle, Myrica cerifera (syn. Morella cerifera) expressly to attract and feed the Red-banded Hairstreak, Calycopis cecrops. I have not been successful, although it's purported to be common as dirt here in coastal North Carolina where I live. I have constantly looked for eggs on the undersides of leaves and I just today discovered they lay their eggs on leaf detritus that lies BELOW the host plant. I have an abundance of Gray Hairstreaks, but would really like to expand my hairstreak diversity. Any tips?
