Finally saw one!

The Common Checkered Skipper is described as the "...most common and widespread skipper in North America"! Until this week, I had never knowingly seen one. The surprise occurred on September 3, in my garden on the Asian Moon Buddleia. He hung around for most of the day and I was able to catch sight of the "sparse blue hairs" described in my field guide. The underside markings on the live skipper were a great deal more defined than those pictured in the guide. All-in-all a handsome specimen!
