Aphid Infested Milkweed....yum!

Tony G

I have left one of my patches of tropical milkweed alone for the past couple months because of a nasty aphid infestation.

This is unfortunate because it's my tallest patch with the largest leaves.

Today I walked by it and something caught the corner of my eye...two 5th instar cats!

I imagine there are more because there are about 20 "untouched" plants.

I figured, if these two healthy appearing cats had grown up on this milkweed, then there was probably nothing wrong with it.

So I brought in a bunch of leaves and just washed the aphids off. The leaves look just fine after washing.

The aphids don't appear to do any damage to the leaves, the flowers, and the seed pods seem to be developing normally. do they cause any damage other than aesthetic?
