They've arrived!

I know this is old news to many of you, but this is my first brood ever of monarchs so I thought I would share. I did take some better photos with the camera, but I did this one with my phone and I haven't had a chance to transfer the camera files yet.

The third chrysalis is black and I can see the wing pattern through it. It is already afternoon here. I thought they usually like to hatch in the morning. Will this one be likely to wait until tomorrow?

CONGRATS to you Liz!!! We never get tired of seeing newborn butterflies, especially Monarchs! Every Monarch that I have ever reared to adulthood did eclose in the morning hours, but I don't think anyone would say that there is any hard and fast rule. Interestingly, all of my Zebra Swallowtail eclosures were in the mid to late afternoons!

3d one eclosed about an hour after I asked! I should learn to be patient...

very beautiful! congradulations! i have never raised monarchs myself but yours are turning out gorgoues. keep up the good work!
