Do Milkweed Beetles Ruin All the Seeds In a Pod?

docmom_gw

I keep checking the patches of Common Milkweed in my neighborhood, but none of the pods are ripe. Today I found some stalks that appeared to have died and turned all brown and crispy, and the pods turned grayish. Inside the pods, the seeds look normal and ripe. There were some beetles one the outside of some pods, but none inside. Do you think these seeds could possibly be any good? I think I'll dry them and carefully label them "sick seeds" and just direct sow them in my own yard. I could even winter sow them now, since I don't have much to do while I wait for weather to cool off. I'd be interested to hear what any of you think.
