I love the way they stack those eggs. I got the golden hops vine about 3 years ago, but they prefer elm here, go figure!

That's fantastic, Jeff! Guess I'd better make a path out to my Hops and see if there is any cat action. Have fun raising them. I love the way they will line up on a stem as chrysalides.

Those are fabulous close-up pictures!
Hops vines have always been the favorite host plant for QMs here, even though I've got other host plants for them.

Forgot to mention, Comma cats have white bristles so easily distinguishable from the QMs.

Awesome, Jeff! How long have you had your vines now?

I put one hops in the back of the property in Summer '07, but it died this year because it wasn't getting enough sun. I put another one at the cornerpost of the fence in summer '08, and that's the one that has gotten the attention from QMs and snouts.

By the way, I got an e-mail response from Will Cook at Duke, and he said that Hackberries had recently been reclassified into the Hops family -- he guessed that my confused Snout mama had smelled the family resemblance.
