I'm seeing a lot of the same BFs in my yard. Yes, the first one is a Dainty Sulphur. They are becoming numerous. I have had 3 male Monarchs patrolling the yard in search of females for about a week. I released 3 females in the last 2 days, but they seem to have flown off. I keep hoping we'll start getting some eggs soon.

This cool weather is wonderful. I'm doing naturalist training at Oxley and will be out there again tomorrow. On Saturday, we will be out checking for skippers around town.

There are quite a few different skippers around right now, including the Horace's and Wild Indigo Duskywings. I saw two "connect" yesterday. The Horace's have more white spots than the WIDs. Also I'm seeing Duns around which are little dark skippers. One thing with this cool weather is the skippers are opening up their wings and showing off the dorsal patterns.

I have seen some of the dark skippers in my yard too... they have been fluttering all over the yard and I love it... sometimes chasing after the hummingbirds and dragon flies. :-)
