So glad to hear that you brought home a monarch cat to watch grow and become a butterfly. It truly is an amazing miracle to watch. My first year of butterfly gardening was a time that I watched very little TV. The cats were my TV for such a long time. I still get engrossed watching them eat and become chrysalids, just not to the extent I used to, haven't had any cats to watch this year!

A single Momma Monarch came to see me this week, I watched her lay at least 15 eggs. She must have known the rains were coming back to Texas: YES we got rain today, anywhere from .25 to .50 inches and more is forecast for the next several days!!!!!! I brought in 12 eggs (couldn't find the other 3) and 5 have already hatched. I was starting to think I would never see those flying beauties come back. Thankfully, I have LOTS of milkweed for them, no takers earlier in the season. Milkweed truly is drought resistant, requiring little water.
