I have 3 monarchs that emerged yesterday. The weather is chilly 54 degrees. It is predicted to be like this until Mon. Can I release these butterflies in these weather conditions?

RE: Monarch release question

What are your low temps, where are you located and do you have anything to feed them until things warm up?
If temps are going to be above freezing, they will survive, but these guys have to get moving...
I live in South WI and I still have a Monarch that flies around in 65+ degree weather (sunny).
What's blooming in your garden? Asters and Goldenrod come to mind as what they'd be left with this late in the season.
My hope is that these butterflies head South immediate upon release.

I don't know that you have much of a choice about releasing the monarchs. If you don't release them, they may beat up and damage their wings, trying to escape whatever enclosure that you are using.
