Well, unless there's another hairstreak very similar to it, it looks like the Gray Hairstreaks that I get here at my place. Btw, that's a very nice pic!

Nice picture Christie. Light quality and angle often changes the "flash" of some lepidoptera, sometimes to two or more very distinct different colors. Probably why your picture is not true to life as you saw it. You're in a blend zone for this species, with up to 3 subspecies intergrades possible (S. m. melinus, S. m. humuli and S. m. franki). So along with the normal species variation from individual to individual, they can and I'm sure do vary widely in your area. However, with this species the differences between it's many subspecies are minor, and mostly seen on the ventral side.

I looked up host plants for them and do have a few but I must not have their Missouri favorite because I think it's the first one I've ever seen. Or - Maybe I see them all the time and just noticed this one because it was so big. I have lots of white clover and alfalfa. I'm pretty sure there is lespedeza in our hayfield. I planted Scarlet Runner Beans this year too.
