What to do with milkweed seeds

I've removed them from their pods and silken "tails" Now what do I do with them? Should they be kept in the fridge all winter and planted in the spring? Can they be put in a margarine container left out at room temp and planted after winter?
How long can they stay seeds before I have to do something with them?

| The only milkweed seeds that do not need cold stratification are tropical (A. curassavica) and Gomphocarpus or Family Jewels You can winter sow your hardy milkweed seeds, or you can keep them in the fridge or garage for the necessary cold period, and plant them in the spring. Susan |
