Is this a monarch?

I found this guy in the middle of the sidewalk walking home today(almost stepped on him) and brought him home with me. I have him in a pickle jar now with some sticks and wood chips and a paper towel w/rubber band for a top.

He looks like a monarch to me, and If he is I already found a place that carries milkweed plants, but I just wanted to confirm. Thanks!

I would investigate the area in which you found it and you may find its host plant.
Depending on your region, that would be Milkweed or Whitevine (Sarcostemma clausum, native to South Florida).
If you found it on the sidewalk, chances are it was looking for a place to pupate or out of host.
Beware store bought Milkweed; it may be treated c pesticides.
