I found the name of the plant its Hemigraphis "exotica". So is it actually a host plant for the white peacock butterflies?

Anartia jatrophae does use some plants from the Acanthaceae family as LFP's, although I don't know about Hemigraphis as one myself. Ruellia is the genus from this family I am familar with being associated with this bug. But I imagine there could be other genus within this family used as well. I believe plants from the Verbenaceae and Rutaceae families are maybe more commonly used in the tropics though.

When I lived in South Florida (Zone 10) I raised White Peacock cats on two native plants: Bacopa monnieri (Water Hyssop) and Lippia nodulosa (Frogfruit). Are these available in Trinidad/Tobago?

Seedmoney, nope i havent seen those two plants here, unfortunately.

I was at the plant nursery today and i just saw the white peacock butterfly lay an egg on this plant, and i was excitingly surprised. so i bought one lol.

Both plants seedmoney mentioned are found on Trinidad and Tobago. Lippia is a Verbenaceae... I had to look up Bacopa monnieri though (Scrophulariaceae).

Interesting, i did some research, and i saw another host plant for the white peacock is Blechum pyramidatum ( green shrimp plant), which is an invasive weed and grows in my garden, even though i try my best to get rid of it. However i have never noticed and cats on it, and its also supposed to be a host plant for the malachite butterfly. hmmm

I've fed green shrimp plant to the white peacock caterpillars, but it is definitely not their first choice. They prefer the water hyssop (bacopa monnieri) to either the frog fruit or the green shrimp. If I have to feed green shrimp I usually put them in an enclosure as they will wander away looking for better options sometimes. Good luck!
